CHLORINE INSTITUTE EMERGENCY KIT "A"

Kit "A" includes devices and tools to contain leaks in and around the cylinder valve and in the side wall of chlorine cylinders, US DOT #3A480 & 3AA480.  Note: The Chlorine Institute Emergency Kit "A" is the only chlorine emergency kit for chlorine cylinders that is manufactured to the design specifications of the Chlorine Institute.

A-Kit Design Features

Device #1: Designed to contain leaks in and around the cylinder valve (photo).

  • NEW! Hood and yoke integrated into one piece allowing for adjusting cap screws independently regardless which chain link is attached.
  • NEW!  Flat base design allows for more stable adjustable platform for cylinders to 15" in dia.  Lighter but stronger chain dramatically lessens weight of entire unit.
  • NEW! Gasket is enhanced with new design to fit better and decrease chances of rollout.  Radius bottom gasket made of Viton®
  • NEW! Device #2 Fuse Plug Clamp re-designed to fit over standard and "enhanced" chlorine valve styles
  • Fits cylinders with oversized neck rings and cylinders with the valve protective housing attached
  • Accommodates cylinders up to 15" in diameter with bumped or foot-ring cylinder bottoms.

Device #2: A clamping device to seal leaks at the fusible plug (screwed-in & poured type plugs.) on standard and new "Enhanced" style valves.

Device #8: Patching device to seal leaks in cylinder side wall. NEW design: smaller button gasket increase sealing capability while applying less pressure.  Nylon strap replaces chain to decrease weight and potential pinch points.

Tools: Kit "A" also includes a variety of hand tools, inspection seals and additional sealing devices. All items are labeled with a part number, color coded red and stored inside a durable polyethylene kit box.

CHLORINE INSTITUTE CYLINDER RECOVERY VESSEL 

The Chlorine Institute Recovery Vessel was developed by the Chlorine Institute to contain leaks that may occur in 100 & 150 lb. chlorine cylinders which conform to specifications DOT 3A480.  The Recovery Vessel is designed to totally encapsulate a leaking chlorine cylinder by inserting and securing the entire cylinder within the Recovery Vessel itself.  This design allows the vessel to handle most leaks that may occur including leaks in the cylinder neck and footring areas that the Kit "A" is not designed to contain.

Note: The Chlorine Institute Emergency Kit "B" is the only chlorine emergency kit for ton containers that is manufactured to the specifications of The Chlorine Institute.

Kit "C" includes devices and tools to contain leaks in and around the pressure relief device and angle valves of tank cars,DOT 105J500W, cargo tanks, MC331, & portable tanks, DOT 51. All items are labeled with a part number, color coded green and are stored inside a durable polyethylene kit box.  Note: The Chlorine Institute Emergency Kit "C" is the only chlorine emergency kit for chlorine tank cars/trucks that is manufactured to Chlorine Institute specifications.

Design Features

The new design consolidates several traditional C-kit components (10A yoke, 10B block, 10C screw, 10D adapter plate and 10E screws) into one complete yoke assembly, part# 11A.

Device #6 and #24 now require only the corresponding hood/gasket combination, yoke 11A, the paint scraper and one wrench, #200C.

Yoke 11A is also 20+ lbs. lighter than the previous C-Kit yoke assembly and is stored completely assembled and in ready-to-go condition in a large polyethylene kit box, #151-C.
