Which A-kit Gasket Kit Do I need?

The A-kit was re-designed in 1993 requiring a change in the kit hood and gasket; therefore, there are 2 different gasket kits for the A-kit.  Each emergency kit has a serial number and date of manufacture which can be helpful, but due to kits that have been upgraded with the A-kit conversion package (part#AC93), it may not be the most reliable means.  Please review the following list for assistance in determining the correct gasket kit.

To determine which gasket kit is required: 

1. Check the part number of the gasket

Gasket 1BMV
Pre-1993 design requiring gasket kit AXGS

Gasket 1BRV
Post-1993 design requiring gasket kit AVGS

or

Check the Hood part number

Hood 1A1
Pre-1993 design requiring gasket kit AXGS

Hood 1A2
Post-1993 design requiring gasket kit AVGS

 

 

2. Date of Manufacture / Serial #
Emergency kit boxes all have a serial number decal on the lower, right hand corner of the red kit sign.  The serial number and date of manufacture may also be found on a silver foil decal on the inside of the kit box cover.

A-kits with the serial #A-9308 and greater were manufactured to the current design and require replacement gasket kit #AVGS. 

A-kits with a serial # lower than A-9308 were manufactured prior to the design change in 1993 and require gasket kit #AXGS - UNLESS the kit had since been upgraded with the AC93 conversion package (see above).
