Which A-kit Gasket Kit Do I need?

The A-kit was re-designed in 2013 requiring different gasket sets depending on the age of your  A-kit.  Each emergency kit has a serial number and date of manufacture which can be helpful, but due to kits that have been upgraded with the newer equipment, it may not be the most reliable means.  Please review the following list for assistance in determining the correct gasket kit.

To determine which gasket kit is required: 

1. Check the part number of the patch gasket

Gasket 8EV (Flat Style)
Pre-2013 design requiring gasket kit AXGS
(requires SO2 gasket kit XEGS)

 Gasket 8GV (Button Style)
2013 "current" design requiring gasket kit AVGS
(requires SO2 gasket kit AEGS)

or

Check the Hood part number

Hood 1A2
Pre-2013 design requiring gasket kit AXGS
(requires SO2 gasket kit XEGS)

Hood 1A3
2013 design requiring gasket kit AVGS
(requires SO2 gasket kit AEGS)

 

 

2. Date of Manufacture / Serial #
Emergency kit boxes all have a serial number decal on the lower, right hand corner of the red kit sign.  The serial number and date of manufacture may also be found on a silver foil decal on the inside of the kit box cover.

A-kits with the serial #A-9308 and greater were manufactured to the current design and require replacement gasket kit #AVGS. 

A-kits with a serial # lower than A-16597 were manufactured prior to the design change in 2013 and require gasket kit #AXGS - UNLESS the kit had since been upgraded (see above).

 

Gasket 1BMV is now obsolete
(SO2 gaskets 1EP16 & 1EP33 are obsolete)
